Project Overview
Sanatra approached me to design a litter picker for their product collection. This project involved creating detailed 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D models for the direct transition from design to manufacturing, without the use of prototypes. The litter picker is a key component of the Sanatra product range.
Design Process
The design process was carried out using advanced CAD software, ensuring each component was meticulously engineered:
Conceptualization:
Initial sketches and ideas were developed based on client requirements and ergonomics studies.
3D Modeling:
Detailed 3D models of each component were created using CAD software.
Assembly models were created to ensure proper fit and function of all parts.
2D Manufacturing Drawings:
Accurate and detailed 2D drawings were produced for each component.
These drawings included all necessary dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications.
Direct to Manufacture
Due to the precise CAD design, the project moved straight to the manufacturing phase without the need for prototypes. This approach required absolute accuracy in the design phase to ensure:
Fit and Function:
All components fit together perfectly and operated smoothly.
Durability: Materials and design ensured the product could withstand repeated use.
User Comfort:
Ergonomic design considerations were fully integrated.
Outcome
The product was successfully manufactured and is now a key part of the Satra range. The litter picker has been well received for its functionality, durability, and ergonomic design.
The Satra litter picker project showcases the importance of detailed and precise design work in the CAD stage, especially when transitioning directly to manufacturing. The successful outcome highlights the effectiveness of thorough planning, advanced CAD techniques, and meticulous attention to detail.
